The English Department recently hosted Booksellers in the school where there was a wide variety of books written in english on display. Our 1º and 2º ESO students are lucky enough to have at their disposal Fiction Express, an application which gives them access to books written in english. Not only are the books aimed at different levels of readers but it also gives students different options for navegating their reading experience.
Students are able to choose the level at which they read, they have pop-ups to explain difficult vocabulary and they also complete a short comprehension quiz to check their understanding. The interactive aspect of Fiction express allows students to vote, after each chapter, for what they believe is the best option for the author to advance the plot of the story. The author then follows the option most voted for and writes the next chapter. In addition, our students are able to make comments, in the book forum, which are related to topic questions provided by the author for each chapter. Students interact with the author through the forum and for their contributions, they receive a certificate of participation and are invited to a webinar with the authors where they can ask all the questions they have about the book.
Lucy from 2º ESO is just one of our students who received an invite to meet the author of ¨Alex in the Middle¨, Camilla Chester. Well done to Lucy and the other students who received this special priviledge!
We do hope all our students are enjoying the wonderful benefits of Fiction Express. Keep on Reading!
