There was magic, dancing, singing and puppetry on Wednesday when ¨The Improving Co.¨ visited San Luis de Los Franceses, with their fantastic series of shows.  They are a theatre company that has been recognized by various groups such as the European Association of Economy and Competitiveness for their innovative style in the teaching of English as a foreign language.

In their shows you will find a mixture of games, theatre, music, humor, and of course fun. Just watch how a group of kindergartners laugh, sing or wiggle in their seats while they witness a story unfold.

Today´s shows for students from Maternelle featured pirates, parrots, sunken ships and captains as students and teachers alike went on imaginary trips to far-flung islands and loved it!

Students from 1st to 3rd of Primary were treated to a selection of shows about England´s capital city, based on the wide range of tourist attractions that it has to offer. An unforgettable morning for all, full of laughs and smiles.

We travelled to the famous Abbey Road studios to listen to some of our best loved pop songs, before heading over to Chelsea to hear a tale about two mice, told by our very own students using shadow puppets.  Later we stopped off at the Tate Modern Art Gallery to see some traditional fairy tales come to life with pictures, finishing the day with a London city tour on a double decker bus.

From 4th to 6th grade, the classrooms and hallways were transformed into a movie set while the performers thoroughly amused the students and teachers with singing, dancing, acting, and puppetry. They presented a series of shows about life in Hollywood and getting a big break in the movie business.

The students met a shocking magician with the Mad Hatter, danced their way through Danny and Sandy´s love story in the hit movie Grease, and later they travelled back in time to 1985 and then back into future in the iconic DeLorean.  Lastly, the children got to meet a costume designer for the movie the Wizard of Oz and make their own version of the movie using the costumes.

It was an awesome morning full of learning, laughs, and fun for the whole of Primary. It opened their eyes to many different opportunities and adventures on both sides of the Atlantic.

Don´t worry, our Secondary students didn´t miss out! ¨The Improving Co.¨ returned to San Luis de los Franceses on Thursday to continue immersing our students in English language and culture through their innovative mini-shows.

First to Fourth of ESO enjoyed the series of shows, “Visionaries and Inventions that changed Mankind”. A very apt choice given the importance of technology in the lives of our students. We were treated to puppet versions of computer whizz kids Steve Jobs and Bill Gates, the formidable “father of science” Galileo asked our students to help him act out his life, while our favourite polymath Leonardo Da Vinci sent his namesake, Leonarda to find a multi-talented genius from amongst our students.  Our students practised magic with Louis Pasteur and Alexander Fleming while finding out about their incredible discoveries that have saved millions of lives, Karl Benz (of Mercedes Benz fame) zoomed along to explain his wonderful invention – the modern car. Not forgetting other great shows including the courageous, double Nobel Prize winning Marie Curie and Albert Einstein´s dances from the galaxy. Last but by no means least, the students learned about the incredible invention of WIFI!

A marvellous morning was had by all! What a wonderful way to encourage their English language learning!
