More about Conseil D’Etablissement
The “CONSEIL D´ÉTABLISSEMENT”, was founded with an unlimited role through a foundational agreement dated the 4th of July 2016, with the vital objective of contributing to improve the school in its different facets, always in agreement with the Values and principles of the school.
Given the independent nature of private schools, the “Conseil d´Établissement” of San Luis de los Franceses is not obligatory, hence its advisory nature, which is non-binding for the Management of the school.
This body is governed by its own Statutes (published on the website), which include as defining features of the “Conseil d’Établissement”, its representative, participatory, and consultative nature. Therefore, its function in no case will be executive.
The purpose of the “Conseil d’Établissement” is, according to its nature, to constitute a channel for the participation of all representatives of the educational community in which matters that affect school life can be submitted to deliberation and consultation.
Given its purpose and its representative nature, representatives from all areas of our educational community form an integral part of said advisory body: the San Luis de los Franceses charity (owner of the school); the “Our Lady of Life” Institute (Guardianship of the College); the Management of the Centre; the Administration of the Centre; staff; students; parents of students and the Association of Friends of San Luis de los Franceses. Specifically, the “Conseil d’Établissement” is made up of a president (Management of the Centre), a vice-president (Rector of the San Luis de los Franceses charity) and fourteen members, of whom eight are members of a natural nature, and six are elected members representing parents and students of the school. Among these members, one holds the position of secretary.
All of this is perfectly defined and regulated in the Statutes.
Of the six elective members of the “Conseil”, two are students who will be named each school year and who will be in 4ESO(one student) and 1st year of Baccalaureate (one student); and four are parents of students of the centre, who, at the time of their appointment, have children in Nursery, Primary and Secondary Education (including ESO and Baccalaureate). In addition, the Vocal representing the Association of Friends of San Luis will, in turn, be a school parent .
The designation of student representatives will be made at the beginning of each school year at the first meeting held by the “Conseil d’Établissement”. For these purposes, the Coordinators of 4ESO and 1st Baccalaureate will propose two students from each of these two courses for their appointment. The students proposed by the Coordinators must have been elected class delegates by the students in the vote held in each class at the beginning of each course. The designation of student representatives will be annual and, therefore, it will be renewed each academic year in the aforementioned manner. The appointment of parent representatives, four in number, will last for four years. The renewals will be carried out halfway through with two parents being renewed every two years.
For these purposes, the directors of each stage will submit to the “Conseil d’Établissement” a list of parents that will include: 3 candidates for parent representatives from the Nursery stage, 6 candidates from the Primary and 6 Secondary candidates (including ESO and Baccalaureate). From the parents included in the lists drawn up by the directors of each stage, the “Conseil d’Établissement” will choose the parents who will be incorporated as Members for a period of four years.
In accordance with the Statutes, the matters to be dealt with within the “Conseil d’Établissement” will be determined by the Management of the Centre, which is whom exercises the Presidency of the Plenary of said “Conseil”. However, any Vocal may propose, in writing and never less than five school days in advance, any matter of general interest, related to school life of the San Luis de los Franceses school (particular matters will continue to be dealt with personally with the student’s tutor, or where appropriate, with the coordinator, or stage director).
In order to be able to transfer your suggestions on any matter of a general nature related to the school life of the school to the corresponding representative of parents of students according to the educational stage, you have at your disposal the contact email of each of the members in “MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL”.
The San Luis de los Franceses School understands that the creation and operation of the “Conseil d’Établissement”, of a consultative nature, can fulfill an essential objective: the will to build by contributing to improve the school in its various facets. That is why we thank you in advance for your collaboration and participation as members of the educational community of the School.
