The team from Education First (EF) and LEGO Education came to our school and entertained our 6th primary students to an educational LEGO activity. Students were put into groups of five or six students and encouraged to work together, be creative, and practice their English.
Individually students were invited to choose one piece of LEGO and describe as many aspects of the piece such as its color, size, and shape. Groups’ imaginations were put to the test as they were then instructed to be creative and build something amazing with their five or six pieces. Students proved they were very creative as everything from a catapult to a potato farm was built. Each group had the opportunity to name and describe what they had built.
As a finale and with a great prize up for grabs, groups needed to use their ingenuity and as many pieces of their LEGO to construct the ‘perfect school’ either by making one building or many different constructions to have in their school. The top prize was given to the group who not only created the best piece but whose was able to vividly describe their creations. Some very inspiring ideas were expressed but they all included at least a swimming pool, football field and a Candy vending machine. Oh and of course, wifi!
In the end all students were actively involved and had a great time. Thank you Education First and LEGO Education for a wonderful morning.
