If you love Don Quijote but are confused by Chinese writer Confucius, then head to El Barrio de las Letras where the legendary Chinese philosopher, teacher, writer and editor teaches us one final lesson where a wall with their writing combines the legendary words of Chinese & Spanish writers, Miguel de Cervantes and Confucius.

Confucius died in 479 BC and Madrid´s Miguel de Cervantes died 400 years ago but their ancient advice and wisdom live on forever.

You must recognise good advice when you see it and this wonder wall has some great quotes from both Cervantes and Confucius and we have to honour Miguel de Cervantes on World Book day as he died on the 23rd of April along with William Shakespeare.

The Wall is on the corner of Calle Santa Maria which is parallel to Calle Huertas where the legendary Miguel de Cervantes lived and died. Gone but not forgotten, the lines “Lucha contra 3 Gigantes, El Miedo, La Injusticia y la Ignorancia” remind us to fight against the 3 giants, Fear, Injustice and Ignorance.

Quoted with Quijote, Confucius teaches us, “Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will understand.”

Confucius said, “Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.” I recognise this wise wall with its wonderful words and I hope everyone can see the beauty of Miguel de Cervantes´advice. So let’s fight against the 3 giants, Fear, Injustice and Ignorance.

As Confucius taught us, «Our greatest glory is not in never falling down, but in rising every time we fall.»

Write or wrong, what a wonderful wall…
